PM Orbán met with Marine Le Pen to discuss EU conservative cooperation
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has met Marine Le Pen to discuss forging closer cooperation between the European conservative forces.
Orbán met the French presidential candidate of the National Rally in Madrid on Saturday, the prime minister’s press chief, Bertalan Havasi, said in a statement.
The two politicians agreed that millions of European citizens who hold traditional Christian and national values have been left without proper political representation in the European Union.
It would be essential, they added, for Europe’s right-wing parties to forge close cooperation.
They also discussed ways to continue building a European alliance of conservative parties, a process which began last summer.
European right-wing parties’ leaders are meeting in Madrid today, after which Orbán will travel to Paris to meet former French president Nicolas Sárközy, the statement said.
